Will Rogers Highway, also known as Route 66, will have its 100th year Anniversary in 2026. We have heard from the Rogers family and others.  We have been invited to visit venues on route 66. Thank you to those who are calling and want to be part of the celebrations in California and other states.  We will list events and look forward to participation by AACA SOCAL AND FRIENDS. Route 66 was anointed on November 11, 1926, but it would take until 1938 before the entire route was paved with concrete. It quickly became one of the nation’s principal east-west routes, not only connecting small rural towns to each other but also connecting Chicago to the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles via the nation’s first all-weather highway.

June 5 (Fri) AACA SOCAL AND FRIENDS have been invited by the Will Rogers’ Ranch Foundation to come with our collector cars to a kickoff caravan event at Will Rogers’ ranch park from 5 – 8 pm. There will be a few remarks to begin the fun with lawn games, food and beverages, historical notes, Caravan Cars, etc. The next day Saturday June 6, 2026, twelve caravan cars will be leaving from Santa Monica to travel Route 66. We have heard from the Rogers family and others who have invited us to visit venues on route 66. In addition, the AAA wants to join us at events with their collector cars. They just published an excellent Route 66 map outlining important historical places to see along the route. AAA Members should be able to obtain these maps from one of their offices.
