Will Rogers Highway, also known as Route 66, will have its 100th year Anniversary in 2026. We have heard from the Rogers family and others.  We have been invited to visit venues on route 66. Thank you to those who are calling and want to be part of the celebrations in California and other states.  We will list events and look forward to participation by AACA SOCAL AND FRIENDS. Route 66 was anointed on November 11, 1926, but it would take until 1938 before the entire route was paved with concrete. It quickly became one of the nation’s principal east-west routes, not only connecting small rural towns to each other but also connecting Chicago to the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles via the nation’s first all-weather road.

April 12 (Sun) Orange County Model A Ford Club 63rd Annual Pancake Breakfast 7:30am - 11am. Bring your Model As and other classics and join us at Hart Park, 701 S. Glassell St. Orange, CA. April 23-25 Thurs – Sat. AACA Annual Grand National/Western Spring Meet (LasVegas Region) 702-301-8649 and April 26 Cadillac/LaSalle show in Las Vegas. The Grand National/Western Spring Meet is set to take place at the picturesque Lake Las Vegas Hilton in Henderson, Nevada. There will be an impressive showcase of classic automobiles inside the hotel’s banquet area. Stop by to see the original armored 1929 Cadillac once owned by Al Capone, a stunning 1933 Rolls Royce, and a beautifully preserved Duesenberg J, as well as a 1908 Cadillac and many others. Peter Brock, known as a designer, racer, flyer, photographer, author and story teller will be the herculean keynote speaker at the banquet. In addition to AACA judging, there will be an “Open Class”, meaning any vehicle of any year can be entered and will be judged separately.

June 5 (Fri) AACA SOCAL AND FRIENDS have been invited by the Will Rogers’ Ranch Foundation to come with our collector cars to a kickoff caravan event at Will Rogers’ ranch park from 5 – 8 pm. There will be a few remarks to begin the fun with lawn games, food and beverages, historical notes, Caravan Cars, etc. The next day Saturday June 6, 2026, twelve caravan cars will be leaving from Santa Monica to travel Route 66. Will Rogers Highway, also known as Route 66, is celebrating its 100th year Anniversary throughout 2026. We have heard from the Rogers family and others who have invited us to visit venues on route 66. In addition, the AAA wants to join us at events with their collector cars. They just published an excellent Route 66 map outlining important historical places to see along the route. AAA Members should be able to obtain these maps from one of their offices.
