Will Rogers Highway, also known as Route 66, will have its 100th year Anniversary in 2026. We have heard from the Rogers family and others.  We have been invited to visit venues on route 66. Thank you to those who are calling and want to be part of the celebrations in California and other states.  We will list events and look forward to participation by AACA SOCAL AND FRIENDS. Route 66 was anointed on November 11, 1926, but it would take until 1938 before the entire route was paved with concrete. It quickly became one of the nation’s principal east-west routes, not only connecting small rural towns to each other but also connecting Chicago to the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles via the nation’s first all-weather highway.

July 18 (Sat) 7am 72nd Annual Long Beach Model T Club Swap Meet. Since 1955, the oldest and best old car and old Ford swap meet in the West! Spaces are available, 20ft wide by 16ft deep $40 each or 3 for $100. $50 each day of event. Open to all makes and models, automotive and hobby related items only. 5000 Lew Davis St. Long Beach City College Veterans Stadium. Admission $5, free parking.

They just published an excellent Route 66 map outlining important historical places to see along the route. AAA Members should be able to obtain these maps from one of their offices.
